Boundary Integral Methods and its Applications

报告概要:
In this talk, a few numerical methods for moving boundary problem of partial differential equations will be reviewed. In particular, the boundary integral method and its application in fluid mechanics and materials science is explained in detail. A fast algorithm for computing matrix-vector multiplication will be discussed.

报告人简介:
Xiaofan Li, Department of Applied Mathematics, Illinois Institute of Technology. He got his PhD of Applied Mathematics at UCLA in 1993. He is an Associate Professor and the Director of Graduate Studies in Department of Applied Mathematics at Illinois Institute of Technology. His research interests include moving boundary value problems and boundary integral methods, with applications in fluid mechanics and materials science. He has made significant contributions to the studies of suspension of deformable particles in Stokes flow and phase transformation in binary alloys. Much of his research projects involve large-scale numerical simulations and the pursued results are limited by computer power.
