报告摘要:

In this talk, I will give an introduction on two threads of studies conducted in my lab, natural language query interface and time series forecasting. Starting with presenting the challenges and opportunities existing in these two research areas, I will discuss our efforts in building natural language query interface to ease query preparation to knowledge bases and relational databases, and a state-of-the-art time series forecasting engine to predict demands in various kinds of applications. These studies developed neural network models on sequential data.

 

报告人简介:

Xifeng Yan is a professor at the University of California, Santa Barbara. He holds the Venkatesh Narayanamurti Chair of Computer Science. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2006 and was a research staff member at the IBM T. J. Watson Research Center between 2006 and 2008. He has been working on graph data mining, graph query processing, and question answering. His works were extensively referenced, with over 16,000 citations per Google Scholar.  He received NSF CAREER Award, IBM Invention Achievement Award, ACM-SIGMOD Dissertation Runner-Up Award, and IEEE ICDM 10-year Highest Impact Paper Award.
