Abastract
In this talk, I will introduce an electronic pen to support efficient study of foreign languages and other knowledge. The pen can automatically read and speak of a word, a phrase, a sentence, or a text in any language (e.g., English, Chinese, Japanese) when it touches the corresponding word in a book. It can also tell stories about a place when the pen touches the corresponding picture of the place in a book. Several other functions will also be explained during my talk.
Biography
Kenji YOSHIDA received the B.A. degree in the faculty of science and engineering from the Science University of Tokyo. After graduating, he entered Taisei Construction, Inc. where he engaged in study and development of CG simulation technology for landscape design. He acquired the degree of Dr. of Engineering from Nihon University in 1992. He established the Visual Science Laboratory in 1991 and embarked on further research and development of CG/VR technology. Since then, he has produced and developed many advanced digital contents such as the virtual reality idol "DK-96: Kyoko Date" and the Daiei film "Gamera 3". In Apr. 1992 he was invited to became a lecture at Tokyo Zokei University, and the following year he was promoted to assistant professor. In Oct. 1994 he opened the world"s biggest multimedia school, "Digital Hollywood". In Nov. 1998, he established a network engineering school, "int", to train engineers who deal in network systems and strategic information systems. From April 2000, he has been working concurrently as a professor at the Faculty of Computer and Information Science, Hosei University.
